It’s turned out that The Smart One, the comedy pilot starring Portia de Rossi will feature a bit of a Better Off Ted reunion. Michael Fresco, who directed and produced Ted, has joined the series as a producer.

The wait for Community’s return just started feeling longer, now there’s an appearance by John Hodgman to anticipate once the hiatus ends.

I’m finally getting my Bryan Fuller fix! NBC has ordered 13 episodes of Hannibal, Fuller’s series involving characters from Red Dragon, including Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The order comes without filming a pilot or even finding an actor for the title role.

Fran Drescher is going to spend the eve of Happily Divorced’s second season premiere by officiating the weddings of three gay couples.

The Big C just grabbed Allison Janney to play a Hollywood producer who wants to buy the rights to Cathy and Paul’s story. I almost missed this story since this follows news about Susan Sarandon and Gabourey Sidibe, so developments about The Big C are starting to become a blur of faboo.

Desperate Housewives finally booked Shawn Pyfrom for an appearance in the series’ final season, where he’s expected to drop a bombshell. That it took this long for the one-great drama to figure out how to incorporate one of its most interesting characters (while continuing to mistake Susan as an interesting character) says plenty about why the final season has been such a dud in the ratings.

Syfy’s happy with its latest original movie Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island, which was the most watched Syfy movie since September 2010′s Sharktopus and the second movie in a row to draw more than 2 million viewers.

Suburgatory (ABC) 8:30 PM ET
Tessa learns that she’s failing gym class, so how does she react? By running for class president and hoping to change the culture at Chatswin, of course. The simplest solution is usually the last one you want to try, of course.

Modern Family(ABC) 9:00 PM ET
I know it’s not Modern Family’s style, but last week’s episode had me hoping for a long story arc about Jay, Mitchell, Cameron, Gloria, Manny and Lilly all living under the same roof. Still, at least this week lets us see Mitch and Cam interact with another branch of the Pritchett clan as they go out for a celebratory dinner with Phil and Claire where everyone has a little too much to drink and shares a little too much.

Whitney Houston: Last Days of a Legend (E!) 9:00 PM ET
E! news takes a look at the events leading to the death of the diva

Revenge (ABC) 10:00 PM ET
After fourteen episodes of set-up, it’s finally time for Emily and Daniel’s engagement party. We’ve waited a long time to find out who was shot on the beach, can Revenge make that moment worth waiting all these months? Looking at this episode’s guest-cast there are some very interesting possibilities for how things could turn out. Still, this has been built-up as the biggest game-changing episode on a show full of game-changing episodes. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint.
