With so much focus on the iPhone, iPad, and iPods lately, it is easy to forget that Apple actually produces computers as well. Although Apple’s iOS-based devices get the lion’s share of the attention these days, computers powered by OS X are still quite popular.
To show that Apple hasn’t forgotten about its Mac computers, the company is holding a special “Back to the Mac” event on October 20 according to Engadget.
There’s not much to go on from the simple flyer that Apple sent out, other than a “cut out” Apple logo with a lion peeking out from behind. We can only assume that the lion represent OS X 10.7, which would be the followup to OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard”.
Apple is likely to discuss the new features that will be included in the major software revision along with its release schedule.
Another probably announcement is a replacement for the woefully outdated MacBook Air. The ultra-portable notebook hasn’t been updated since mid-2009, so a new revision is sorely needed in this competitive marketplace. Also expect to see updated MacBook Pro models.
