At Apple’s annual WWDC conference later today, June 7, Steve Jobs will likely announce the next iPhone — but it likely won’t be the only major announcement from Apple. Engadget has obtained some pretty convincing images of a device that seems to give iPad-like, multi-touch functionality to desktop and laptop computers.

The device is a very simple trackpad with an Apple logo, an on/off button and little else. It probably connects to other devices via Bluetooth. The images don’t tell us much, but if the device is real, it means that Apple is really serious about finger-based, multi-touch input.
