Ke$ha may be fishing for headlines with the release of her newest song entitled “Styrofoam” that throws shots at Britney Spears, but she may not have thought about the amount of backlash that she will have to take from the hordes of Britney fans. The song, which has been on the Internet for several days now, is fairly tame in its message. Around the 2:12 mark of her song she says “In ten years, Britney Spears, Britney Who?”
Ke$ha said in an interview several days ago that Britney Spears is “no artist”, and that she has been a product of the machine and has not earned her place in pop history through her music. Many fans have judged the song as a unnecessary blow toward Spears who already has a waning career. Many have questioned what Ke$ha’s intentions behind the song might have actually been.
Ke$ha, who was born in 1987, has garnered quite a bit of attention from the press in recent weeks. She was first featured on the number one single which was on Flo Rida’s album, entitled “Right Round.” The song also gained momentum after being featured in the best comedy of last year, “The Hangover” Ke$ha continued her successes by releasing her debut single, which was entitled “Tik Tok”, and was a critically acclaimed success on all counts.
She has yet to comment on what might have prompted her to begin her recent barrage of insults aimed at Britney Spears. Spears’ has not commented on the song driven insults either. It is unclear at this point if the two have had an ongoing feud in the past or of Ke$ha is simply looking for attention from the media to help her promote her album. She is also expected to release a new single in the near future, so this recent attack could be driven by the fact that she plans on releasing that single.
